Is Google moving up to the next step by taking on the consumer market with low-end PCs?
According to the folks at LATimes, Google will be introducing low-cost PCs made in China with a Googlized version of Linux. It will be a Google made operating system that employs a vast array of free membership based services (Server-Side). Some features may include free Gmail accounts, 1 GB of online storage, as well as a host of media solutions (utilizing its deal with AOL). The projected price per system is said to be in the neighborhood of $199 USD and it will be distributed by Walmart Retail chains.
One thing is for sure cheap quality hardware plus free quality software Google looks like they are try to take out Both Dell and Microsoft at the same time. All though nothing has been confirm from the guys at Google, it is definitely something within their capabilities…
