Eye-Fi, Bring Wifi To Our Cameras

Posted on 01 May 2006 by Tommy

Eye-Fi The one thing I’m really missing from my camera is a fast an easy way to upload my photos without the hassle of having to deal with wires. WiFi is the solution and although many of the new digital cameras come with this built-in feature, millions of digital cameras already out there don’t have this capability.

Eye-Fi is the quick solution to that problem. they are working on a technology that incorporates WiFi functions into the flash storage. There first product to be released will be a 1GB flash SD card with built-in WiFi. The cost will be very much comparable to the 1Gb flash cards without WiFi on the market today.

With this technology it will bring ease of use to the individual consumer as well as boost the opportunity to produce many new business ventures (wireless photo printing hubs, etc.).

Eye-Wifi is currently the owner of the intellectual property rights behind this technology, so look for them to license it out to flash memory producers in the coming months.
