This movie is broadly based on the beloved Chinese novel Romance of the Three Kingdoms, but draws upon more grounded historical accounts. The acting was awesome and so was the directing. Red Cliff lives up to expectations and maybe one of the better Chinese epic war movies. I feel this movie is more suited as a comedy than a serious action flick. It does not live up to the hype as a summer blockbuster, but is worth watching if you are a Will Smith fan. GRADE : B- Very creepy, but not not very M. Night Shyamalan-ness. The acting was terrible, Mark Wahlberg did not deliver a convincing role. John Leguizamo, on the other hand made this movie bearable. GRADE : B+ Not a very good movie, but I am a sucker for romantic comedies. I hate to admit this, but I really did enjoy this movie. If you are into teen comedies then this is a movie for you. I recently came across Charice Pempengco video on YouTube and I was blown away. She is a 16 year old girl from the Pillipines (Manila) and she clearly has the voice of a Mariah Carey or a Whitney Houston. Her stage presence is out of this world and her charisma will very soon maker into a international superstar.
Charice Pempengco started singing at the early age of three. Her mother and aunt has been her coach throughout the years. She has appeared in countless television spots in the Philippines, but did not reach international notoriety until her appearance on Star King (a Korean show) which was uploaded onto YouTube. After generating million upon millions of views on the net, it caught the attentions of major television networks across the globe and since then Charice has signed a record deal and has appeared on Ellen, Operah, and many popular talk shows.
GRADE : A This is a drama that can be very much anticipating. The acting was especially good. Linda, Steven, and Kent’s performance is refreshing. The story is very touch and moving. What I got out of this move was no matter what you may have done is the past, their always lies a bright future for you if you are willing to change and work hard. Never-the-less a very inspiring piece and one that I high recommend. Modern Drama (Cantonese) 20 Episodes, 45 minutes per episode Release Date: March 2008 Starring: Steven Ma, Kent Cheng, Linda Chung, Fala Chen, Raymond Cho Description by Wikipedia: SZE KA-KA (Linda Chung) becomes disobedient since her mother passed away at her young age. KA desperately searches for her mother’s cremains which she has no idea why they have gone missing. Eventually, she is able to find the cremains in SHING KAM-SHEK’s (Cheng Jut Si) stone factory. KA’s love to her mother impresses SHEK and his disciple SHING YAT-ON (Steven Ma) a lot. ON helps KA to solve many of her problems, he also finds her a job in his sister SHING MEI-SUM’s (Fala Chen) company. KA appreciates all the things ON has done for her. Clearly, they adore one another, but they do not confess their love for each other because they both were afraid of being heartbroken and would rather keep their brother-sister relationship instead. The love chance comes eventually when SHEK is staying in the hospital for heart surgery. SHEK has KA become ON’s trainer for the marathon. ON reunites with his old running partner who KA thinks is ON’s true love. ON places third in the race (placing for his first time). ON’s running partner places first in the woman’s division and her and ON hug and take photos which make KA jealous and she tries to leave obviously hurt and crying. ON chases KA and admits that he doesn’t want to think of KA as a younger sister but he actually loves her. KA starts to cry and yells at ON for not admitting his love for her. ON stops her yelling by kissing KA. The whole family later finds out when ON announces that him and KA were dating at ON’s birthday party.
SUM is a money-oriented woman who wants to marry a rich man. She involves herself in a threesome with SHEK’s son KAM WING-LOI ( Raymond Cho) and her boss TUNG KA-CHEUNG (Cheng Tse Sing). She gets pregnant accidentally. Later, she has an abortion because she does not want the baby to ruin her chance to getting rich. The family is bitterly disappointed in SUM. SUM does not repent what she has done. SUM injures KA whom is pregnant by drunk driving. ON loses his battle for life since then.
GRADE : A It was very entertaining from start to finish without a single boring moment throughout. The Coen Brothers did an amazing job creating a movie that accurately resembles the original Iron Man comics. Catch, what I believe will be the movie to watch this summer. Patrick Ewing and his biggest rival Hakeem Olajuwon were both elected to the Basketball’s Hall of fame yesterday. Ewing, Lead the Knicks to the Finals twice and is New York’s all time leading scorer. Olajuwon, brought two tiles to the city of Huston and in the process grabbed a couple of MVPs along the way. These are two of the best big men in NBA history and I am glad they are being recognized for their hard work and dedication to the game.
Along with Ewing and Olajuwon, Ex-New York Head Coach Pat Riley and legendary Broadcaster Dick Vitale were also elected to the Basketball’s Hall of Fame. Riley won two championships with the Lakers in the 80’s, lead Miami to couple of championships, and was the commander and chief of the Knicks in the early 90’s. Vitale is the most recognized NCAA broadcaster, he is famous for his ecstatic and passionate commentary.
