Tonight (a couple of hours from now), my Binghamton Bearcats will be making their very first-ever NCAA appearance and I am very excited. The #15-seeded Bearcats will square off against #2-seeded Duke Blue Devils at the Greensboro Coliseum in Greensboro, NC. If you’re in the area and a current BU student or alumni, you’re invited to attend the pre-game “warm-up”. In addition, there is an alumni/friends meetup at BG McGee’s on 4701 High Point Road at 4pm before hand. Tip off is at 9:40 pm (EST) and there will be viewing parties held around the country, find the one nearest you here. For New Yorkers, The Hill on 416 3rd Ave. (between 29th and 30th streets) will be hosting a viewing party with “Pitchers and Buckets” specials all night. Let’s Go Bearcats!

Earlier this week, state legislators awarded Binghamton University $3 million in funding to begin planning a new law school. The funds will be used to develop curriculum, determine the facilities needed and decide on the best location for the school.

University advocates were instrumental in building support for the award. In total, Think Tank members mailed over 2,100 letters urging SUNY decision-makers to support the law school initiative, and over 1,100 messages asking legislators to provide funding of the new school.

I am glad to see this finally approved. This will not only ensure growth for my University, but will also provide a wealth of opportunities and economic growth in the Southern Teir.

This would not have been possible if it wasn’t for our Think Tank members, our advocacy group. They have had such a positive impact for the law school’s future. I urge former and current SUNY Binghamton students that are not currently member of our advocacy group, please consider visiting the Think Binghamton website (http://think.binghamton.edu) and becoming a Think Tank member. It is very simple to become a University advocate and will only take a couple minutes of your time. Your voice can make a difference.

The day has finally come, I graduated from University with an Bachelors Degree in Management (Concentration in Management Information Systems and Marketing) and a minor in Computer Science. I have always knew I would be able to finish, but the route that I would take to the end was never clear.

Growing up, I was just your average student. Never one to have the best grades, did just enough to get by. However when I started University a different mind set had come over me, I guess it was maturity kicking in. It seemed to fuel my passion to learn and be the best. I began to achieve grades that I never thought I would have gotten. I started to learn things that interest me so much to that point that I began side projects on my own to put these ideas, theories, and techniques into practice.

I have always been enterpurur at heart but I guess these last few years has given me that extra push to, in the words of P Diddy “Go Get Mines.”

So from starting out at a private school in St. Johns, then moving away to Binghamton, and traveling the world abroad at Nottingham it has diversified me in ways I never thought possible. From the various environment, to the courses, and the people, they have all left there mark on me directly or indirectly. I have grown to be more knowledgeable in my profession and in life.

They often say college is the best times of your life, now I can see the true in that saying. What you do after college is up to you! Some may go on to become billionaires and some my end up working at your local Wendys. The truth to that matter is that money can’t make us all happy. Others may pass up unbelievable opportunities for ones that many see as less valued. It’s up to the individual to judge, that’s what makes us humans so great, we all think differently. It’s because of traits like these that make others worth knowing… As for me I went into college wanting to be the next Bill Gates and I left wanting to the the next Bill Gates. But what you don’t see in that statement is how I have changed.

A computer science major at first, I always wanted to build a program that can change the world and secure me financially for life, similar to what Mr.Gates has done. Over time I have grown a larger interest for Business, thus I given in my hard code for a chance to take part in managerial duties. I no longer felt it was necessary to become rich, all I need is the satisfaction of being able to do what I love to do everyday, and that is Market. I hope to be a global marketer one day and be as international as Mr. Gates.

Yesterday, I volunteered at my local church in Binghamton to help collect can goods for less fortunate families this holiday season. It was a huge success, we were able to get over 15 large full boxes of can goods in a span of 5 hours. Thanks to everyone that showed up and helped admin the drive as well as those that donated can goods!

I also like to note that the clothing drive I ran this year was a huge success, We got 3 large boxes of donated clothing, all going to aid the people that can’t afford to stay warm this holiday season. So big ups to you guys that donated clothing as well. It’s because of good deeds like these that the people of Binghamton will have a big, brighter, and warmer holiday season!

I am not a laundry know-it-all, but I am guessing wool is not meant to be placed in the dryer. I learnt that the hard way, last night I shrunk my Brooks Brother vest while doing laundry.

Just came back from thanksgiving at my sister’s place, second Thanksgiving celebration down one more to go!

It was a blast celebrating with all the asians. The food was really good as well. The best dish was the potato scallops, hint: I made that ;)
